Tell Us What Hurts
The first step toward getting you back to full movement is an accurate diagnosis. Select the area that is bothering you to learn about the conditions we treat and the specialists who handle them.
Orthopaedic Services for Every Stage of Your Care
Whether you are dealing with a sudden injury or a condition that has been building for years, the right diagnosis is what determines the right treatment. At Orthopaedic Associates of Duluth, your care starts with a physician evaluation and on-site imaging when needed, so your team has the full picture before recommending a path forward.
We treat surgical and non-surgical conditions across every major joint and region of the musculoskeletal system. Our surgeons are board-certified and work alongside physician assistants, physical and occupational therapists, and certified athletic trainers. That means the same coordinated team manages your care from the first visit through recovery, without referrals out to separate facilities or providers.
Orthopaedic Conditions and
Treatments We Specialize In
Knee
We treat ACL and ligament tears, meniscus injuries, knee arthritis, patellar dislocations, and tendon conditions. Surgical options include arthroscopic procedures, total and partial knee replacement, osteotomies, and revision surgery. Non-surgical treatment and prehabilitation programs are also available.
Hip
Our hip specialists address osteoarthritis, labral tears, FAI, fractures, and avascular necrosis. Treatment options range from non-operative management and physical therapy to total hip replacement using minimally invasive techniques, including the direct anterior approach.
Shoulder
We evaluate and treat rotator cuff tears, labral injuries, shoulder instability, arthritis, and biceps tendon conditions. Arthroscopic and open surgical options are available, as well as total shoulder replacement for eligible patients.
Neck and Spine
Our spine care addresses neck and back pain, nerve compression, and conditions that limit your range of motion or cause radiating symptoms. Both surgical and non-surgical treatment paths are available depending on diagnosis.
Hand and Wrist
Carpal tunnel syndrome, fractures, tendon injuries, arthritis, and joint deformities of the hand and wrist are all treated by our hand and upper extremity team. Therapy services are coordinated directly with surgical care.
Foot and Ankle
We treat fractures, arthritis, ligament injuries, and chronic ankle instability. Surgical options include arthroscopy, arthrodesis, cartilage repair, and total ankle replacement. Conservative and non-surgical approaches are also offered.
Elbow
Tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, UCL reconstruction, dislocations, and fractures are among the elbow conditions our team evaluates and treats. Both surgical and therapy-based approaches are available.
Joint Replacement
Our surgeons perform knee, hip, and shoulder joint replacements, including minimally invasive and outpatient approaches for appropriate candidates. Prehabilitation and post-surgical therapy are available in-house.

Why Patients in Northern Minnesota Choose Us
- Serving the Northland Since 1969.
Orthopaedic Associates of Duluth has been an independent orthopaedic specialty group for more than 50 years. That history reflects consistent, patient-focused care across generations of Northern Minnesota families, with a medical team that answers to its patients, not a health system. - On-Site Imaging at Our Duluth Clinic.
MRI, X-ray, and ultrasound imaging are available in-house at our main Duluth office. Patients do not need a separate imaging appointment at another facility. Your physician reviews results and discusses findings with you at the same visit. - Board-Certified Surgical and Clinical Team.
Our surgeons are board-certified in orthopaedic surgery, with several holding subspecialty certifications in sports medicine. They work directly alongside physician assistants, therapists, and certified athletic trainers. - Surgical and Non-Surgical Options Under One Roof.
Not every orthopaedic condition requires surgery. Our team evaluates each patient individually and recommends the most appropriate treatment, including outpatient and minimally invasive joint replacement for eligible patients.
Same-Day Orthopaedic Care When You Cannot Wait
Acute injuries do not follow a scheduling calendar. When you break a bone, tear a ligament, or sustain a joint injury that limits your movement, we offer same-day and next-available appointments so you can be evaluated by an orthopaedic specialist, not a general urgent care provider who will refer you elsewhere later.
On-site imaging at our Duluth clinic means your physician can assess the injury, review imaging results, and begin planning your care in a single visit.
One of our physicians is also available for hospital and emergency orthopaedic care 24 hours a day, including weekends and holidays

Athletes and active patients require more than injury repair. They need a care team that understands the demands of their sport and has a clear plan for getting them back to full participation. Our sports medicine physicians, therapists, and certified athletic trainers provide evaluation, treatment, prehabilitation, and return-to-sport programming for patients at every level of activity.
We treat ACL and ligament tears, rotator cuff injuries, tendon conditions, dislocations, stress fractures, and overuse injuries across all major joints. Our therapy team offers Sportsmetrics ACL prevention programs, running assessments, custom running plans, and upper extremity rehabilitation.

Physical and Occupational Therapy at Orthopaedic Associates
Rehabilitation is part of the treatment, not an afterthought. Our physical and occupational therapists work in direct coordination with our surgeons and physicians, which means your therapy plan is built around your specific diagnosis and surgical outcome, not a generic protocol.
Therapy services are available at our main Duluth clinic and our Hermantown therapy location. Our therapists hold Doctorate and Master’s-level training and carry specialty certifications in manual therapy, dry needling, running rehabilitation, and hand therapy.
